Beautiful Men’s fashion does exist…and it was at Pitti Immagine
Nowadays it is challenging to find beautifully made Men’s fashion that is wearable and refined.
When fashion brands are forced to promote their collections with the fashion show format they need to create a stage, a very unique and distintive, compared to the other ones and this takes many of them to the eccentric and show off path.
Brand usually focus on Excess to become visible in a very noisy industry.
At Pitti Uomo this January we saw very interesting and beautiful fashion collections that are not just wearable. They are beautifully made.
Especially in the Touch pavillion, niche brands presented very well made Harris Tweed jackets, super light coats rich of handmade details, tabarro coats, sleek and chic and refined denim. And lots of handmade knitwear in a very contemporary way, knits made in South America with beautiful colours and rich features.
There were also sneaker brands that plant a tree for every pair of shoes sold.
The Scandinavian pavillion was a breathe of fresh air.
Only the bigger brands, slave of their performance anxiety, went very deja vu and without a thrill of emotion (see J Barbour & Sons Ltd and Armani Exchange).
The mood was “colour” and “natural elements” and it was clear that, in most of the cases, niche is beautiful.
To those eyes who can find it, beautifully made Men’s fashion does exist. And you can see it at Pitti Uomo more than everywhere else!
